About Ngarenaro Tours
A locally owned tour company in Arusha, at the foot of Mount Meru and the doorstep of the Northern Safari Circuit.
We organise private wildlife safaris, Mount Kilimanjaro climbs, day excursions, Zanzibar holidays and cultural tours across Tanzania. Our approach is simple: listen first, then build the trip around you.
Whether you want a budget camping adventure, a comfortable mid-range lodge safari or a luxury fly-in experience, we plan every detail, from vehicles and guides to park fees, accommodation and logistics.

How we started
Ngarenaro Tours grew out of years spent guiding friends and friends-of-friends through Tanzania long before it was a registered company. What people kept asking for was the same thing: someone local who would plan honestly, answer quickly, and not disappear once the deposit was paid. That is still the whole business model.
Today we are a small, focused team based in Arusha rather than a large agency with call centres abroad. Every itinerary that goes out has been built by someone who has actually driven that route, stayed at that lodge, or climbed that route on the mountain.

How we plan a trip
We start with a conversation, not a template. When you write to us, we want to know your dates, who is travelling, what draws you to Tanzania, and what kind of pace suits you. From there we sketch a route that makes geographic sense and matches your budget honestly.
You get a detailed itinerary and an itemised quote, not a vague price range. Once you confirm, we handle every booking ourselves: park permits, lodges, vehicles and crew, so nothing is left to chance on the ground.

What we stand for
Honesty over upselling
We recommend what suits you, not what pays us the most commission. If camping suits your budget better than a lodge, we say so.
Safety first, always
Well-maintained vehicles, licensed guides and conservative decisions on the mountain and in the parks. We would rather turn back than take a risk.
Fair pay for our crew
Porters, cooks and camp staff are paid properly. A cheap safari that underpays its crew is not a bargain, it is a cost shifted onto someone else.
Plan every trip as though you were sending your own family.
Our guiding principle, from day one.
Meet the team
Small enough that you will speak to the same people throughout your trip.
Elizabeth Mwaka
CEO. Leads the company and oversees every itinerary we design, from first enquiry to final confirmation.
Travis Clever
Tour Planner. Works with guests day to day to shape trips, answer questions and handle bookings and logistics.
Our driver-guides
Experienced, licensed, English-speaking professionals who know Tanzania’s parks and their wildlife intimately, in every season.
Responsible travel
We are a local business. Travelling with us keeps tourism income in Tanzania, supports local guides, cooks and camp staff, and helps sustain the parks and communities that make these journeys possible.
